Well, no, because your files are FBX files, not GLTF files. It follows the specifications that exist for FBX, but not completely (FBX supports lots of weird things - it's 20 years old!) and works mostly.įortunately, there is now an alternative to FBX of sorts - the industry backed, free and open, Khronos Group-developed GLTF! It even has a Blender plugin made by Khronos themselves, designed to conform to the spec. So, Blender's FBX importing and exporting is done using code they've written themselves. Subsequently because of certain conditions in their respective licenses, they are Not Allowed to be used together. Blender is Free and Open Source, and essentially a competitor. Autodesk make 3DS Max, Maya, and a host of other 3D modelling software that cost thousands of dollars and have been industry standards. This is because FBX is owned by Autodesk. Some background informationīlender does not use the official FBX importing code. I'm going to walk through the Extreme methods of importing FBX into Blender.
